For 15 years, Richard has consulted across the creative industries - film, television, animation, digital media and music - conducting business planning, feasibility studies, policy analyses, library valuations, mapping and sector analysis.

Areas of expertise include:

  1. international production (competitiveness of production locations, fiscal incentives, film and television studios),

  2. strategies for company development

  3. moving image archives,

  4. European state aid regulation,

  5. digital media innovation (including the use of media policy for regeneration strategies), and

  6. training

  7. links between well-being, creativity and the creative economy.

Clients include international media and economic support bodies, broadcasters and independent production companies.

Richard is Professor of Film and Creative Economy at the University of Hertfordshire, where he is Director of the Creative Economy Research Centre. Previously, he was a Visiting Tutor at Goldsmiths College, Visiting Lecturer at Cass Business School on the Film MBA programme, and Associate Producer at New York University, where he taught producing.
